Caterham Carnival 2008 report
Despite the poor weather reports, the sun held firm and firmly crushed the weather curse of the Carnival for yet another scorching Caterham Carnival this year. The crowds were out for yet another thoroughly entertaining afternoon.
Waitrose once again ran out of their thoroughly tasty treats, the Round Table pimms tent seemed permanently busy, and many stalls raised lots of money for various charities as well as the carnival beneficiaries. There was a long queue all day to beat the goalie at the Caterham Puma's goal and the scouts had a 'smashing' time. The Caterham Link raised over £50 for Marie Curie, not bad at 20p per go on our human fruit machine!
Falconry, the Zodiac Gym Club, Creations and Jump Theatre entertained the crowds in the main arena and the Carnival procesion was again a noisy affair, with Bloco Fogo samba band leading it, the Carnival Queen of the jungle, 1st and 4th Caterham scout groups, Pumas football, window cleaners and more taking part.
The funfair was also in full swing and come 5 o'clock the crowds were once again reluctant to depart, enjoying the sunshine and keeping stallholders busy to the last.
A big thank you to everyine who visited the Caterham Link stand and for the many kind comments about the magazine. We look forward to entertaining you all next year and throughout the year with the magazine.
See you on June 13th next year!
